We’re called Eight Development because we solve human challenges by creating useful, usable user interfaces. In New Zealand culture, ‘number 8 wire’ mentality is greatly admired. It’s a blend of ingenuity and resourcefulness that leads to clever inventions.
Number 8 wire was invented in New Zealand, and the preferred wire gauge for sheep fencing, so remote New Zealand farms often had rolls of it on hand, and the wire would often be used inventively to solve mechanical or structural problems.
Led by Jason and Liam Mackie, we’re a relatively small team, which means we can think and move with clarity and agility. Our ability to quickly understand a client’s needs and create an affordable solution has allowed us to attract projects that are earning high praise in the user interface world.
While other companies operating in the ‘internet of things’ space are having issues with security breaches and hacking, our security knowledge and experience ensures our products avoid the pitfalls of connectivity. When you work with us, you can be confident that we’re thinking not just of the user experience, but of ensuring data remains secure at all times.
Our foundation client and partner, Bosch Security, is a global household name and a Fortune 500 company with a long track record of major innovations. Working with this client, we have seen our UI products flourish in New Zealand and Australia; now they are distributed worldwide.
